Biography

Dr. Varun Sambhariya is a board-certified orthopedic spine surgeon specializing in adult spinal conditions, including degenerative disorders, trauma, spinal deformity, revision spine surgery, motion preservation, and minimally invasive procedures. A Plano native and lifelong North Texan, Dr. Sambhariya is passionate about helping patients reduce pain, restore mobility, and improve their quality of life while caring for the community he proudly calls home.

Dr. Sambhariya earned his Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences and Business Administration from the University of Southern California and then went on to obtain his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, where he was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and the Gold Humanism Honor Society. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at John Peter Smith Hospital and subsequently completed a specialized spine surgery fellowship at Harborview Medical Center and the University of Washington. During fellowship, he earned recognition as an AO Spine Fellow and completed the AO Global Spine Diploma program.

Throughout his career, Dr. Sambhariya has developed a particular interest in the complexity of spine care and the thoughtful decision-making required to determine the most appropriate treatment for each patient. He believes that surgery is only one component of comprehensive spine care and emphasizes individualized treatment plans that may include both operative and nonoperative approaches. His patient-centered philosophy focuses on education, shared decision-making, and evidence-based care, so patients feel informed and confident throughout their treatment journey.

Dr. Sambhariya is committed to advancing the field of spine surgery through both clinical innovation and research. He utilizes the latest technologies, including minimally invasive techniques, computer-assisted navigation, and advanced imaging, to enhance surgical precision and patient outcomes. An active contributor to orthopedic research, he has authored and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and presentations on spinal disorders, adult spinal deformity, gait analysis, and patient outcomes. He believes the best results are achieved by combining cutting-edge technology with sound surgical judgment and personalized patient care.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Sambhariya enjoys spending time with his wife and family. He loves traveling, hiking, dining, and cheering for the Dallas Cowboys.
