Dr. Cantrell is a lifelong resident of the Lewisville area, graduating from Lewisville High School in 1979.  He did his pre-med studies at Texas A&M University.  He graduated from the University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston, Texas with an M.D. degree in 1987.  He then completed his orthopedic residency at UTMB in 1993 and completed his shoulder and elbow fellowship in 1994 at the W.B. Carrell Memorial Clinic/Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.  He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, Inc. and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.  He has been in an active orthopedic surgery practice in Lewisville and Flower Mound since 1994, providing general orthopedic and sports medicine care.  He has a special interest in shoulders.

Dr. Cantrell lives in Argyle with his wife and two children.  He serves as team physician for Argyle High School and as a consulting team physician for the University of North Texas and Texas Women's University.  His interests include spending time with his family and enjoying outdoor activities.
